Big surprises....

It's been a busy few weeks here we've had the most amazing surprise ever.... we found out a couple of weeks ago that we are having a baby. I know big shock but that wasn't the biggest surprise.... the baby is due in March so only 3 months to prepare. People keep asking how i didn't no but I've been fine none of the usual signs.

We had the scan last week and it was fantastic, we could see every little detail although we didn't get to find out the sex as the baby had it's legs up hiding. Never mind, baby is fine so
that's all that matters.

They could only fit babies head and Tummy on the picture with me being 26 wks.

I'm so excited and I'm having so much fun looking at all the the little clothes and things for the babies room.

So with all that going on i haven't had time to blog about the 1st birthday cake we did at the beginning of of November. It turned out fab, we were so pleased with the final product, lots of hard work went into it but it was all worth it when we saw the customers reaction. She loved it and so did everyone at the party (we got an invite). It was nice to get feedback from so many people.

We also held our ladies night a couple of weeks ago which was really good, the Christmas Fairy Cakes went down very well, as did our new recipe Raspberry and White Chocolate Biscuits.... yummy.

We're not doing too much at the moment as we have a lot to prepare for the new arrival as well as getting organised for Christmas. I will get some pictures of our Christmas range on here soon.

Happy Halloween...

Yesterday's Halloween fair at our local Hospital went really well, we'd almost sold out by 12. We had a very busy day on Friday baking and decorating all the cakes and biscuits that there wasn't time to carve the pumpkin so it had to be send up to my dad to do and i think he's made a fab job. I would just like to take some credit for the pumpkin as it was grown by me, not that i did a lot apart from put the seed in the ground.

Here's a few photo's from the fair, although the photo's aren't very good and i couldn't help getting the TV in on the picture of the stall.

The biscuits turned out really good, i didn't get chance to take a photo before they went in the bags though.

And here are the fairy cakes, again not the best photo's.

I can't believe Halloween is nearly over it's definitely my favourite time of year. We now have to start getting creative with the Christmas idea's.
Our big project for next week is a 1st Birthday cake and fairy cakes all pink and Princess like all my favourite things. I'm going to make sure it's all done in time for plenty of photo's.
Happy Halloween!

Halloween Fairy Cakes

So here they are the practice run Halloween fairy cakes made for my Bf's Nephews Birthday and I'm really pleased with the outcome. They went as fast as we could put them on the plate and i got some lovely comments from the 8 and 9 year old party guests, which was very nice as I've found kids to be the biggest critics.

I've got lots more idea's up my sleeve for the Halloween Fair at my local Hospital on the 30th, can't wait to get baking and decorating. Also I've got some Halloween biscuit cutters to experiment with so I'll put some more pictures on when there done.

Today is a small last minute order, lots of mini fairy cakes which i love to do as they are so cute.

Wonderful Holiday....

All refreshed and ready for lots of baking and card making after a wonderful weekend away in Northumberland. The weather was wonderful quite windy on Saturday but the sun was still out and not too cold for October. I really didn't want to leave the sea behind, i could sit forever and watch the waves crashing. Here's a few pictures, all took by me which I'm very proud of as it's the first time I've really tried to get any decent shots, my bf and dad are very good at photography so for them to say they are good means i just had to show them off!!

That's enough of my holiday snaps!

Scrumptious Treats has got a very busy few weeks ahead which I'm looking forward to, a baby shower this week, a wedding next week and then a Halloween fair in a couple of weeks and our usual venue Matlock Farmers market on 17th October. We're really looking forward to doing all the Halloween cakes and biscuits, I've got lots of ideas just hope they turn out as good as they look in my head.
The few weeks before i went away i gave the cakes a break and got stuck into making cards which I've not done for a couple of months now, the only problem is when i get started i can't seem to stop, it's very addictive.

Here's a couple of my makes....

You can't really tell on the photo but the new home is hand sewn, as are the door hinges, handle and windows.

More pictures coming soon of yummy cakes and a seek preview of the Halloween cakes as I'm baking some next week for my bf's nephews birthday party.

Just a quick post...

So its been over a week since the fair at The Van Dyk Hotel in Chesterfield, the venue was beautiful and the toilets were so posh (everyone commented on the toilets, strange i know) but unfortunately we had very few customers through the door. Fortunately for us the stallholders got peckish so we sold something a least. Very annoying as so many people put a lot of work into there craft and no one came to see them, more annoying for us we spent our weekend baking only to have to give a lot away. On a brighter note we were sat between two fantastic ladies, one who made cards and the other made bags both lovely crafts, we had a giggle and a gossip which got us through the day.

This weekend we are back at our favourite venue
Matlock Farmers Market, lovely people and lots of yummy produce. It is very hard to resist sampling and buying from every stall.

Pay it forward anyone??

So I've joined a PIF over on All About Eden and I'm really excited as I've never done anything like this before and to tell you the truth I'd never heard of it before reading about it on Sara's blog.

For those of you who don't know what it means PIF stands for pay it forward, basically the first 3 people to comment on the blog will receive something handmade from the blog owner, then those 3 people post about it on there own blog then send a handmade gift to the first 3 people that comment on there blog and so on (hope that makes sense). It sounds great and i can't wait to start it, think I'm going to make some cards to send out as it's been ages since i sat and made any.

So if you would like to join in on my PIF please leave a comment.

We had a family christening at the weekend and me and mum decided it would be nice to bake some fairy cakes for the occasion (any excuse to bake and be creative. We were very pleased with the outcome as it's the first time we attempted the middle cake.

What do you think?

I'm organising things for a craft fair that we are standing at on Sunday at Van Dyks Hotel in Chesterfield, really looking forward to it as it's a new venue to us. I'll let you no how it goes and post some pictures next week.

Better get back to it as there's lots to do.

Very good weekend....

So the farmers market went well at Matlock this weekend we completely sold out which is always a very good feeling although we did get moaned at for having no leftovers... men eh!

It's the first time we've taken our Chocolate caramel shortbread and Almond crunchies and they were a big hit, as always so were the Oat, raisin and chocolate biscuits.

Here's a photo of one of this weekends orders, yummy chocolate fairy cakes with milk and white chocolate sprinkles.

Now totally off the subject of cakes, my week has just got off to a really good start. I had to pop into town to pick up a few photos of our cakes for the album. So while i was waiting for the photos i had a browse round boots and was offered a makeover by Benefit Cosmetics and i came out feeling really good. So i now have a shopping list of lovely makeup... do you think they will take cakes as payment!!

New treats added....

After another couple of weeks of being very busy with one thing and another the blog has yet again been neglected, but we are back.
We had a lovely weekend off and spent it experimenting with lots of new recipes and we have now added Chocolate Caramel Shortbread, Chocolate Shortbread Fingers and Rocky Road Bites to our menu. None of them stayed in there tins long enough to take any photos but we'll be making some more as we've already had an order for the Chocolate Caramel Shortbread and we're at Matlock Farmers Market this Saturday.
The new website is coming along nicely, it's all designed on paper and ready to be transferred from paper to the computer or whatever these cleaver computer type people do. (this is a very big hint to my partner to get it started, do you think he'll get it)

Here's a couple of photos of our first corporate order we had from a local pub for a couple of cakes.

Coffee & Walnut

Carrot & Orange

We're had lots of good feedback from these cakes and more orders.
Think that's everything we wanted to tell you, we'll back soon with more news and treat updates.
